CDLLIFE                                      Oregon State Police dash cam shows truck hauling paper rolls toppling on sharp curve at Sexton Summit                 Published:  April 18, 2025   ByAshley       Oregon State Police (OSP) shared new dash cam video as a reminder to commercial vehicle drivers to slow down when taking a curve

On April 16, troopers shared dash cam video of a truck crash captured on I-5 southbound near mile marker 68.

In the video, you can see a commercial vehicle tipping over while taking a curve and then sliding along I-5.

No one was seriously hurt.

“This crash occurred at the Sexton Summit, a known trouble spot due to the sharp curve, excessive speeds, and frequent wet road conditions. The curve has a recommended speed of 60 mph, but the CMV — carrying 75,000 lbs of large paper rolls — was traveling too fast to negotiate the curve safely. Slow down for curves, especially when fully loaded. Speed, weight, and road conditions can be a dangerous mix,” OSP stated.
