58% of trucks placed out-of-service during multi-agency commercial vehicle enforcement detail in Texas

Multiple law enforcement agencies partnered for a commercial vehicle inspection and enforcement operation in the Lewisville, Texas, area last month.
On April 1, the Lewisville Police Department (LPD) released the results from the March 18 commercial vehicle enforcement operation.

- Citations issued: 21
- Warnings issued: 244
- Level 1 inspections: 39
- Level 2 inspections: 1
- Level 3 inspections: 0
- Out of service violations: 43
- Trucks placed out of service: 23
- Percentage of trucks out of service: 58%
For context, the overall vehicle out-of-service rate for the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s International Roadcheck blitz last year was 23% .
“This is not an April Fools’ joke—these numbers highlight just how many dangerous violations were found during a single day of enforcement. These inspections are critical in ensuring unsafe commercial vehicles are removed from the road, protecting everyone who shares it,” LPD said.
Other participating law enforcement agencies include the Carrollton Police Department, the City of Denton Police Department, the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Colony Police Department.
