Six semi trucks burn at Indiana truck stop
Published: November 25, 2024 ByAshley
Officials are investigating a major vehicle fire that occurred at a truck stop on US -20 in Michigan City, Indiana, early Sunday morning.
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office (LPCSO) and multiple fire fighting agencies were dispatched to Gallops Truck Stop in Michigan City around 2 a.m. on Sunday, November24, for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival LPCSO Deputy Kasz Billings found three semi trucks fully engulfed by flames. The burning trucks were “in close proximity to fuel pumps and the store,” firefighters said. “By the time the fire was extinguished, six semi-tractors had caught fire, four of which were completely destroyed,” police said.
No one was injured, according to the Coolspring Volunteer Fire Department Inc. The fire was knocked down within an hour. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone who has information about the fire is asked to email Detective Evan Doperalski at [email protected].!!

Time to be thankful for the blessings you have.
Well it’s the holiday season now, and we are starting to have big family meals with everyone. Though some are fortunate enough to be able to afford food , there are others who can not.
There are organizations that can help provide dinners for people down on their luck. They provide food donations to people or some like a soup kitchen fix a meal for that holiday to provide a hot holiday meal to people in need. This is just one website that I have found but there are many others. feedingamerica.org can help send you in the right direction far as locations that are providing meals where and when. Also if you are fortunate enough to have extra food or money or time they can send you and your resources to the right place. Just remember were all not as fortunate as the next. If you can help in any way Im sure it would not go unnoticed. Were all in this together, God Bless this Holiday Season!

Find out where to get free food or how you can give back this Thanksgiving.
How do I find a free Holiday meal?
Free meals or food boxes are available near you. Enter your zip code below to find your nearest food bank.
Even if a food bank seems far away, they work with food pantries, soup kitchens, and faith-based organizations closer to your home. Some will even travel to your community.
What free food is available this Holiday?
There are a few different ways food banks and food pantries give out free food for the Holidays. Unfortunately, not all of these options may be available in your community, so it’s best to ask your local food bank what they offer.
Many food banks have a schedule of Holiday food distributions on their website, and you can also call to ask about their hours, and any requirements. Some may also require you to sign up for a Holiday basket or meal before November, and December.
Free turkeys
A free turkey can come in a Thanksgiving food box, or you may get a gift card to use to buy a turkey from a grocery store. When turkeys are not available, you may get another protein like ham or chicken.
Thanksgiving and Christmas lunch or dinner
Your local food pantry or soup kitchen may serve a free Holiday lunch or dinner. They may serve this meal on Thanksgiving, the day before Thanksgiving, or the day after. Some locations may provide meals to-go rather than dine-in.
Holiday food boxes
Many food banks provide free baskets or boxes with food to make your own Holiday meal. These boxes can include protein like turkey and sides like cranberries, gravy, and vegetables. You may need to pick up your box at a drive-thru pantry or schedule a contactless pickup.
Home delivery
If you cannot visit a food distribution in person, home delivery may be available. Many food banks and food pantries deliver pre-prepared Holiday meals or food boxes. Some home deliveries are limited to seniors and people with disabilities. Ask your food bank or food pantry if you qualify for home delivery.
