It all started about 25 years ago when Justin Clein was chaining down a heavy load and got smacked in the forehead by a traditional binder — needed 20 stitches. That got him thinking there had to be a safer way.
With 30 years in trucking and earthmoving — his dad owned trucks, so he grew up around it — he designed the Bulldog Binder, which fixes the big pain points like chain twist, loosening on the road, and awkward handling.
He founded Universal Restraint Systems, or URS, out of Queensland, Australia, around 2024. They officially launched into the US market at the Mid-America Trucking Show in 2025. The company’s all about making load securement safer and more reliable.
